Re: New Portobello High School - Private Bill Porty Park
Just noticed the strong responses of support from local politicians to the consultation! http://www.keziadugdale.com/2013/02/01/portobello-high-school-consultation-response/ http://www.sheilagilmore.co.uk/portobello-high-school-private-bill-the-school-must-be-built-on-the-park/ GET IT BUILT ON THE P...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
The idea of a super school with Castlebrae makes no sense to me. It would mean removing Portobello HS from the centre of our community. Would it even be Portobello HS if this happened? We cannot allow these NIMBY's to drive a school out-width our community. The councillor who is quoted in today's EE...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
Extremely disappointed with this outcome. Having just drove past Portobello Park I can tell you there was no-one out in it. PPAG have really handed a severe loss to the children of Portobello. This NIMBY approach to a new school building that would have also provided new community sports pitches and...

Sport in Porty!
Thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where people can enjoy different sporting activities, both for viewing and taking part in Porty. I'll start with my club, City of Edinburgh Basketball Club which was founded in 1988 when the successful junior teams of Portobello and Wester Hailes com...

Re: Woodwares closing / Sainsburys coming to Portobello
Spot on Pal of Porty. The licensing complaint is a bit of a joke for me too. Sainsbury's will probably operate a strong 'If you look 25, we will ask you for ID' policy which most major retailers do. This is a lot more comforting than many other 'policies' that are enacted by other licensed premises ...

Re: Edinburgh Council Election 2012: Portobello/Craigmillar
I was impressed with Maureen last night. It shows through that she really understands Council business. Explained situations very well and was openly honest when it came to most questions. Especially the question regarding parking/pavement space. It's true that there really isn't much that can be do...
