Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal

the school spends a fortune each year transporting kids by bus to the Jack Kane Centre And nothing new either. We were bussed up to Niddrie for 'games' in the 1960s before the Jack Kane Centre was even built. We should not repeat the mistakes of our sixties forefathers. A rebuild or refurb on site ...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal

Sorry Commander. I couldn't buy into your idea for several reasons including:- * the situation of your planned building. Just too close for comfort to 125s speeding past (I'm sure ppag would also view this as too dangerous given their voiced concern about road safety for children). * the number of f...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal

Agreed Tom. There are no winners in this situation. The effects of this will be felt for generations to come. Good schools are major factor in deciding where to live. My guess is that this will influence many families considering a move to the area. And who can blame them? A very small but toxic gro...

Well said Molehusband. There is no victory in the children’s loss. PPAG would do well to remember this.

Diana Cairns was overheard informing people it was her 'own private stall'. I guess the clues were there in her helpers! Thank goodness I didn't purchase.

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review

If young Windsor's exam results are anything to go by, Mrs McArthur could have more to worry about than a new school. Would be interested to know when the next HMI visit is due at PHS. and BTW congratulations to wee Tufty. I am well aware that there are a lot of fantastic teachers doing a great job...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review

The City of Edinburgh Council had placed an embargo on permanent teaching contracts due to budget cuts. I believe this led to the regrettable situation where staff on temporary contracts who could obtain permanent contracts outside Edinburgh moved on. If you were to have discussed this with any memb...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review

That's a shame for your son/daughter. It's the time of year when the post bring good news and bad news for many young people and I really feel for them. We were lucky to be in the former category, as were many of my daughter's friends so a huge thank you to all the staff at PHS for your hard work, d...

I don't see any mention in the minutes of Diana Cairn's refusal to answer the question of whether the person who admitted at the meeting to writing a letter sent to Park Ave dwellers was indeed the same author she had earlier referred to.

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review

On second thoughts, given the level of hysteria at the meeting I am sure you probably could get people to agree with you. Betty, can I ask, and I am not being sarky, snippy or anything else, really I am genuinely interested. What part of the meeting did you find a level of hysteria that caused you ...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review

It was not the act of askling for someone's name it was the tone adopted when responding to the question. Unhinged was the first word that popped into my head. Which is why I feared for Wendy, it was personal thing, I have no idea how Wendy felt. And didn't she ask Wendy to repeat it and subsequent...

Re: Community representation

Last night's meeting was quite revealing to those of us who are unfamiliar with the PCC. The relationship between the Diana Cairns and the Chair was rather like puppet master and puppet. It was self-evident how decisions are made. Truly disappointing.

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review

You may well be right Bob, however I think it is fair to say that people who have been brought up here, generally have a different attitude to the park than people who haven't. What a load of xenophobic nonsense. Green space is green space, wherever you come from. Are you now spokesperson for the '...

I see that SPP Facebook page are claiming that they have pushed for this 'early' appeal hearing. Any truth in this or just more misinformation?
