The option to re-build on the existing site should be considered fully along with all the other options. If there is a possiblity that there might be no housing in the proposal for Portobello park then surely it puts that option on an equal footing with other options, i.e. no self-financing. So, it ...

Well, maybe the council should look a bit wider around the catchment area then for a new site and not jsut focaus on Portobello. The PFANS petition is a bit vague when it talks about "schools in a parkland setting" but it is my understanding that the group only wants the schools in one particular pa...

We seem to have been slightly ahead of our time in opposing the superstore application but awareness of the case against the domination of the grocery market by the "Big Four" is building up a head of steam. A recent government report predicted the independent retailer would be a thing of the past b...

The artists have been requested to remove the windsocks because the planning permission was temporary and the socks are looking a bit tatty and there is no money to replace them, unless Mr Magnolia has a few odd ones loitering at the bottom of his sock drawer that he would like to run up the pole. I...

OK here are the ticket prices for children: Under 5 years old - free 5-12 year olds - £2 12-16 year olds - £5 So, it should be an affordable night for those who want to bring children unless you bring a troupe of teenagers. What is the collective noun for teenagers anyway? (I could think of a few.)

Stephen McIntyre said: "Firstly, land will be sold for the benefit of the community and all of the profits will be ring-fenced and go towards the creation of the new park including the schools." You know this for a fact do you? Strange, because I could get no such guarantee from my elected represent...

Duddingston House Properties would have been asked for a contribution to the signalisation of Seafiled roundabout had they been granted planning permission for the supermarket. As they did not get planning permission they will not be making a contribution. The site has now been sold to a residential...

Or even a mobile super-school, cruising round picking up students from Leith and Rosyth - offering staggered starts to the school day for pupils from different catchments. Instead of the school having a swimming pool, it would be...

BB said 'That's not something I'd heard before, and I think we ought to be careful of saying that certain groups with certain opinions are "putting out misinformation".' I know this for a fact, I'm afraid. There are people trying to turn this into a divisive issue and saying PCATS has started a mass...

It is reprehensible that the council has allowed the school to fall into such an appalling state of disrepair. I wonder if they deliberately underinvested in it so it would come to a crisis situation like this in order to rush through their plans. I don't think Gemini is putting trees before childre...

This is against my better judgement but here goes. As Porty said, there were arrests in a field at Auchterarder. What happened was that there was a row of riot police at the edge of the field who allowed people to walk past them into the field. Once the people were in the field they were charged at ...

The idea was first presented at the "Imagine Portobello" event in late October, to which every household on the Porty Reporter run (12,300) was invited and which was extensively advertised around Portobello. Around 200 people attended the event. If the initial bid is selected to go through to the ne...
