Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review
On stage ear witnesses, time and time again, heard DC cajole John Stewart to abandon, citing abusive behaviour by the crowd. She passed him note after note. Then we had Hawkins, she gesticulated to him for about 10 minutes to get up and speak. He did, attempting to launch a carefully calculated gre...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review
Storky- my understanding is PPAG have 14 days to lodge the grounds of their appeal. The council have 28 days to respond. Date for court is indefinite. If I'm reading the signals correctly (MM) the council will respond rapido and will likely already be pressing the courts for an early hearing. There...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review
Porty, maybe if you weren't so focussed on building on the park you too could see that the Big W site is ideal. I thought that the suggestion was to keep the park as playing fields. Would that still mean that the area for the school is too small? As I said before, the area is served well with under...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review
Not quite the mass demonstration you were hoping for I guess. I think if you are hoping to persuade PPAG to drop the case by any other means than violence, you might start to think about some kind of charm offensive. Good luck. Are you really prepared to pay what will likely be well over £300k to f...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review
So not content with attempting to silence the PPAG, we then had the character assassinations. Now you want to ruin them financially. And this because they have dared to stand up for what they believe in. If you take someone to court and lose you pay costs? PPAG knew this before this started so how ...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review
Despite the council pursuing legal costs, I wonder if PPAG will still maintain their appeal? They have enough lunatics in their group to do this! If the costs for the initial appeal end up costing them over 100k, costs for the next one will be even more. They surely do not have the funds What they ...

A two year delay would, I imagine, push building costs up . Anyone know if the Council would have to go through the whole tendering process again? Write to your councillor and copy Kenny MacAskill, I have, others have and if we all do, get something in the press etc then the pressure is on them to go after these people for costs.

I get the feeling this may be the straw that breaks the camels back, parents have had enough of this now, myself included. Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review
If they do lodge an appeal and two years is the delay i really think some sort of action group should be mobilized to lobby the council to go after them for fees and start exerting real pressure on these old farts. If they are appealing i'd urge everyone to fight for them to have to pay costs for the initial case. They are basically doing all this at little expense, knowing full well they wont win. My guess is if the Council pursue them for costs they wont have the funds to take this any further

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG Judicial Review
If there us no challenge (and given PPAG's track record they'll leave anything till the last minute) then the Council will most likely approve the contract at their April meeting. They did however approve £200,000 towards initial works to speed up the process if successful in court, so they could s...

how long do they have to object given the Council want to start building works asap?
and surely there is little chance of them raising this 80k, who's going to stump up for a lost cause with no legal footing?
